It took a year … a cycle of the sun and earth … for the Sunstone Pipe to go from dream to reality.

The Pipe itself is in the same vein as those of Native American first people’s cultures.

Very similar yet also different.

Sunstone is inspired by those the Americas but connects to the land of the Americas (and world at large) through the ancient spiritual pathways of the Northern European tribes.

Whereas many of the Pipes of the American tribes are carved (often of Pipestone), the bowl of this one is shaped and forged through steel.

And although steel is forged, it still is reworked elements of Earth … not unlike how Pipestone or other stones are reworked through carving.

My ancestors were forging things for centuries. It’s a part of who they were as a people.

Doesn’t make it better than what’s carved, only different.

Considering it, I’m thinking Sunstone in reality is a child of this land (the Americas) and the land of my ancestors (Europe).

Pipes have been used to connect to the land and the spirits of this land for eons.

Sunstone bridges and crosses the gap between here and there … an evolution of who I am as a person while tapping my own beliefs / path and where my ancestors originated.
